Avery Gordon Enget Age 82 of Powers Lake, formerly of Kenmare and Minot died Sunday February 2, 2003 in a Minot Hospital
He was born March 28, 1920 in Powers Lake to Nels and Marianne Enget. He was raised and educated in Powers Lake and graduated from Powers Lake High School in 1939.
Following graduation he attended mechanical school in Fargo. He soon returned to Powers Lake and operated Grubb Service Station from 1945 to 1946. He then worked for Sellies Garage, also in Powers Lake.
On August 2, 1946, he married Twila Emma Maria Carlson at the Niobe Baptist Church. They moved to Kenmare in 1951, where Avery began employment with Moen Ford Motors and Peterson Ford. In 1967, they moved to Minot where he was employed in the parts department at Westlie Motor Company until he retired in 1985. They continued to live in Minot until 1989 when they returned to Powers Lake.
Avery was a member and actively involved at First Baptist Church of Kenmare, Immanuel Baptist Church of Minot and Bethel Baptist Church of Powers Lake.
Avery was fondly known as "Sunshine" and was always lending a hand. Avery was a very positive person and his strong faith helped him live a life of no regrets. Family was very important to him and he took great pride in his marriage to Twila. He always played an important role in the lives of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be truly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Twila, Powers Lake and daughters LeeNae (Dale) Domsten of Muskegon, MI and Pat (Wayne) Christensen of Flaxton, ND; son, Dwight (Maria Abbadessa, Fiancee) of Scottsdale, AZ; seven grandchildren, Greg (Katy) Domsten, Chicago, IL, Dana (Jimmy) Gretzinger and Missy Domsten, all of Lansing, MI, Melanie Domsten, Upland, IN, Curt (Michelle) Christensen and Brent Christensen all of Fargo, ND and Denise (Marshall) Chrest, Bowbells, ND; two great-grandchildren, Payton Christensen, Fargo, ND and Jamie Gretzinger, Lansing, MI; four sisters, Margaret Grubb and Dolly Gibson, both of Powers Lake, ND, Doris (Glen) Arrison, Ross, ND and Adeline (Lyman) Lorentzen, Fargo, ND; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Enget, Powers Lake and Joan Enget, Arvada,CO and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Rayburn and Herbert.
Funeral: Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, Powers Lake, ND.
Visitation: Wednesday, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare.
Burial: Bethel Baptist Cemetery, Powers Lake.
